its for a subway applicationA customer complians that he ws short changed by you receiving only 13cent change from $2.00 instead of 31cent?
I REMEMBER THIS QUESTION! first look at the receipt and ask the customer to show you the change he received. If your not sure, do a count of the money to see if you are over any money in the register!A customer complians that he ws short changed by you receiving only 13cent change from $2.00 instead of 31cent?
Give him the 18 cents difference after quickly checking the receipt to make sure he was really owed 31 cents.

The time it would take to count the draw is worth more than the small amount of change, and it is unlikely a customer would try to 'scam' you for 18 cents.

Larger amounts would require informing the person in charge, counting the drawer, and reinforcing the practice of counting back out loud when giving change to a customer.A customer complians that he ws short changed by you receiving only 13cent change from $2.00 instead of 31cent?
check the amount he was owed by way of the receipt. If it is incorrect on my part, pay the man. If he's wrong, try to show very politely that the item was $1.87, not $1.69.

If it's that much of a problem, you may need a manager, but it shouldn't come to that unless the guy is a loon.
