Need to find a job this summer?

I am in need of a job for the summer (I'm 17.. still in high school). No place near me as any "hiring" signs or anything of that nature. Is it still alright to go in and ask for an application? What are my chances of getting a job if i do that? Places around me include a Wendy's, Arby's, Giant Eagle, K-Mart, subway, a movie rental place... things of that nature.Need to find a job this summer?
Most of those places never advertise because they always have walk in traffic.

So yes it is absolutely OK to just walk in and ask for an application.Need to find a job this summer?
Culver's minimum hiring age is 14 with a workers permit.

I called many stores because I am 14 looking for a job. This was the response they gave which makes me happy after looking for so long.

Find a local one go online and apply and go in store to apply or call and ask if they are hiring.

What I did was Google a bunch of business near my home and found their numbers using Google maps or their sites and I called and directly asked if they are hiring and what age do they hire at.

Try local grocery stores, pizza parlors, retail stores, fast food restaurants.
