How did you get your first job?

How do people usually apply for jobs? Do they go to the place and ask for an application and if they do isn't that kinda awkward? Like what do you say? If I want to work at subway do i order food first and then when i get to pay be like ohh btw can i see the manager? And then if the manager isn't available it's just awkward. I really need a job. Most places have applications you can fill out online. If they don't, just go to the store or wherever it is you want a job, and ask if they're hiring and if you can fill out an application. If they're not hiring at the time, they usually hold on to your application for at least a month, sometimes up to a year, in case they do need to hire someone later.
Especially in a people oriented business like this, you've got to step out of your shell now. Not after you get the job.Talk to the 1st person you meet working there,and really talk to him or her ask questions listen to their answers. Ask them things like how they like working there. If you like the uniform say so. Take your time getting to know the people. Don't just try to get it over with right away. I got my 1st job working for a temp outfit. I'd get sent to places where they just needed people for a little while( days, weeks,even months). Worked several places till one liked my dedication to my work and hired me. There's an old saying,"It's not what you know, it's who you know." After working there for a while when an opening would come up my boss would 1st ask me if there was anyone I knew who was looking for a job. If not then he would start looking through the applications.How did you get your first job?
Im 18 and just got my first job last week! i start this wed. but what i did was call to ask if they were hiring first go in looking clean as in my hair clean nails, nice clothes not to over dressed... ask for the manger not the employees they could just throw it away(HATERS) that you had talk on the fone with....give he/she your app. make sure they member you as in smile alot let them know they have your full attention when all is said and done give them a good hand shake repeating your name again....after that keep calling and calling until they ask for an interview then the rest is up to you.

Well, i was trying to become a Medical Assistant %26amp; part of the curriculum requires that you intern at a clinic or hospital, i chose a clinic. I walked in %26amp; asked if I could speak with the manager, he interviewed me on the spot %26amp; told me I could start the next week :)How did you get your first job?
I asked for an Application and applied and got the job...My first one when I was 16 at Dairy Queen.
Mine was a hand-me-down from all my older brothers, like all my clothes
