If a job application asks"Are you 16 years of age or over (proof of age or work permit may be required)....?

does that mean they are asking for legal reasons like just wondering if they will need to see a work permit or are they asking because they throw your application away if you arent old enough? haha

like this example is for subway, i am 15 am i old enough?

and also, what jobs are available to 15 year olds?If a job application asks"Are you 16 years of age or over (proof of age or work permit may be required)....?
There are legal reasons, It is called the Child Labor Act. Most places will not hire till 16, There is a limit to hours they can work and what times they can work. Also many places have equipment that by labor laws only anyone over 18 can use. Jobs available, some restaurants, farm work.
